Keeping up with demand from The Donkey Sanctuary

The Donkey Sanctuary

Caring for over 6000 donkeys around the world, The Donkey Sanctuary is a national charity, with a head office based right here in Devon. Over the last 45 years, the organisation has carried out renowned work to improve the lives of donkeys, mules and people all over the world. The head office, set amongst beautiful Devon countryside near Sidmouth, provides the opportunity to meet 500 of the animals currently in the charity’s care.

We started supplying the Donkey Sanctuary with branded uniforms three years ago and now, they place around five to ten orders a day with us. With a team of over 700 staff, it’s important that we are able to keep up with such a high demand and have the ability to manage and process regular orders. We stock many items in our warehouse at all times so that when something is requested, uniforms can be sent out immediately. With orders coming in from over 50 different locations in the UK, the charity uses a web-based ordering platform, which is completely managed and allows them to log in and place their orders. This ensures the process runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible, for both of us.

There are many different jobs being carried out at the Donkey Sanctuary, from working in the yard with the animals to greeting visitors on the front desk and working behind the scenes in the offices. That means the range of uniform garments we supply is varied to include waterproofs and PPE footwear to jumpers, shirts and trousers.

We also supplied them with crockery and kitchen equipment when they opened their new restaurant and more recently, compostable coffee cups, something which many more of our clients now ask for. We sourced these from a manufacturer called Vegware, whose products are low carbon and made from renewable or recycled materials, allowing them to be completely compostable.
