What's it like to be a PVM apprentice


Working in partnership with Education + Training Skills LTD (ETS), we have been providing motivated and enthusiastic learners with apprenticeships in business and customer service for the last five years. Katie McCrae, one of our Customer Service Advisor tells us about her experience as a Business Admin Apprentice, when she joined the team nearly five years ago.

“In 2013, I came to PVM Supplies as an apprentice – looking back, although I was very nervous about my initial interview (held with both Paul and Nicky), they made me feel extremely welcome which helped me to promote myself.

I went away from the interview feeling so excited at the thought of employment for PVM Supplies, as this was potentially going to be my first job.

I was delighted when I got the call from Paul himself to state I had been selected for an apprenticeship in Business Administration.

Over a 12 month period, I experienced so much; taking orders from customers within the first 2 months, which I was most nervous about, using the systems to process orders and getting to the stage where I could confidently provide quotes to new customers. The staff were lovely and I felt part of the PVM team from day one.

Today, I am an integral part of the business. I manage some large accounts, go on client visits and support the sales team for new bids.

PVM has been the making of me – both personally, and business-wise.”
